Free shipping offer from Life's an Expedition*

*Get free shipping on Life's an Expedition merchandise now through August 5, 2011, midnight CST.  That is, it will be free for shipment within the United States and discounted for global destinations.  Here's how to qualify:

  • First, become a Facebook fan by logging into your Facebook account from your personal account (as opposed to a business account) and clicking the LIKE button on this page.
  • Next, place an order of $75 or more in merchandise from one of these Life's an Expedition shopping sites: < This is where we park our yarn. < Scarves, housewares, garden, bags, ethnic jewelry and more. < Books, sheet music and vintage paper ephemera.

And we do have some rules:

  • One offer per Facebook fan, household or address.
  • Order needs to be paid in full with one payment via Paypal.
  • When you pay, please type FACEBOOK into the comments section of the Paypal form.  If your name on your personal Facebook account differs from the name to whom we are shipping the package, please specify what your personal Facebook account name is so we can find it in our records.

  • If you live in the United States and specify shipment to an address within the United States, or an APO address, we will rebate all of the shipping you paid on the day of shipment.
  • If you specify shipment to an address in Canada, you will receive 60% of the shipping you paid in the form of a rebate on the day we ship.
  • If you specify shipment to an address in Europe, you will receive 40% of the shipping you paid in the form of a rebate on the day we ship.
  • If you specify shipment to an address in Australia, you will receive 30% of the shipping you paid in the form of a rebate on the day we ship.

  • The $75 merchandise total (before shipping) needs to be from one site, e.g.: not a $35 Zibbet order combined with a $40 Etsy order. Ouch! My brain!
  • EXCEPTIONS: We have a heavy Native American style painted mirror for which we cannot extend this offer.  And we have some stonework garden castles on which we will award half of the expected rebate amount, due to the weight.
  • Offer cannot be applied retroactively to past purchases.
  • Please note that we do not have shipping set up to all countries on all of the sites for all items, sometimes due to customs restrictions.
  • Buyers outside the United States are responsible for any possible customs fees upon receipt.
  • All packages will go out via United States Postal Service. Seller chooses the shipping method.
Well, that was pretty boring to read, wasn't it?  Just remember to type in FACEBOOK on your Paypal form and we'll work it all out.  Let the shopping begin!

Silk to dye for.

I have been busily acquiring silk sari fabric and over-dying it with other colors to give it a rustic, mottled look.  Then I freeform crochet the fabric mixed with some Life's an Expedition yarns and come up with scarf-like creations.

This scarf-thing, above, was made with yellow silk that I dyed blue to get a wonderful bronze.  Then I finished up with Life's an Expedition Italian Vineyard yarn.  I named it Sakkara.

Today's project involves a big jar of tomato leaves and other plants, vinegar and water, in which I am soaking some vintage cotton with lace.  The jar is out in the hot sun to ripen.  Sort of like making sun tea.  Fingers crossed that I get something more interesting than a giant tea stain.
